1970 TVR Vixen 2500
This car is a very important part of TVR history. It is mentioned and photographed in the TVR book by Peter Filby, (A PASSION TO SUCCEED), as the 1st TVR Vixen fitted a Triumph TR6 engine. It is the only TVR that was fitted with the Lucas mechanical fuel injection and overdrive transmission, from the factory. According to this book, Gerry Sagerman, (the US TVR importer) and Martin Lilly (current owner of TVR), took a trip together to meet with the people at British Leyland to source a new supply of engines for the US market. They worked out a deal for British Leyland to supply TVR with engines and transmissions that were currently being used in their production Triumph TR6 roadsters. This engine had already been approved certified for the US market. Gerry and Martin left that meeting with a new TR5 fuel injected engine which was fitted with a 4 speed transmission and electric overdrive. At the TVR factory in Blackpool England, this engine was fitted into a new TVR Vixen rolling chassis. The finished TVR 2500 was then shipped to the US for Gerry Sagerman to use as his factory demonstrator for the new Vixen 2500 model.
