Pontiac Firebird IROC Racecar

The International Race of Champions (IROC) racing series was an all-star like American racing series that took top drivers from Indy car, Formula 1, NASCAR, and Sports Car racing and had them compete in identical cars. The IROC Series began in 1973 and concluded in 2006. The Pontiac Firebird IROC was introduced in 1996 and raced through to the series conclusion in 2006. The IROC Firebirds were designed by Laughlin Racing and powered by a race prepared 358ci Chevy V8 restricted to 500 horsepower. The IROC Firebirds were raced by some of the biggest names in motorsports including Mark Martin, Helio Castroneves, Scott Sharp, Al Unser Jr. Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Earnhardt. All of the cars were maintained by a division of Penske.

This Pontiac Firebird IROC racecar is car number 40 and was the last Pontiac Firebird IROC racecar built to compete in the International Race of Champions series. This IROC racecar is in excellent condition and features a steel tube-frame chassis fitted with fiberglass composite body work. The car is powered by a 500 horsepower race prepared Chevy 358 cubic inch V8 mated to a Jericho 4 speed manual gearbox. Features include a Lexan windshield, full roll cage, 15" Aero Racing wheels, Goodyear tires, Brembo racing brakes, Autometer instrumentation, a quick-release steering wheel, fire suppression system, and a fuel cell. Spares include, bodywork, wheels, and springs.
